This project encourages aspiring photographers to rediscover their passion by using simple assignment cards as creative prompts. By experimenting with their cameras or phones, participants explore new techniques and compositions, sharing their work with the HvA community and growing their skills in the process.
Through my interviews, I quickly discovered that many people tend to neglect photography as a potential hobby. They either don’t take the time to improve their skills or simply have too busy school or work schedules. These assignment cards are designed to activate and encourage students to go out and take photos. The tasks are not difficult, making it easier for the target audience to get to know their camera or phone better and experiment with composition in a fun, accessible way.
Design an interactive application that connects people and allows them to be visible and active within CMD as a sharing community.
Designing an interactive application that connects budding photographers, stimulates their creativity and makes them visible and active within the CMD community.
It should encourage the community to engage in photography more often.
Community members must have the freedom to experiment and participate at their own pace, considering their limited time.
The platform should be easy to combine with busy work or school schedules.
There must be a way for members to give each other feedback or compliments (tops), as this helps them grow, stay motivated, and feel supported.
With the help of simple assignment cards, beginner photographers can express themselves creatively. Each week, a new theme is introduced to inspire fresh ideas and keep the community engaged. These themes are also reflected in the color of the cards, making them visually distinctive and easy to recognize. The cards encourage participants to spend more time on their hobby and explore new creative directions. The photos they create are then showcased in the Immersive Lab, allowing them to share their work and connect with others in the community.
The website makes it easy to upload your photos and find all your work in your personal profile. This profile contains all the photos you’ve shared, giving you a clear overview of your progress. Other community members can respond to your photos with tips, compliments, or constructive feedback. In this way, the platform helps reactivate the community’s interest in photography, encouraging members to pick it up again and learn from one another in a positive and inspiring environment.
Beginner photographers can upload their photos to the website and share them with the community. This creates an open and supportive environment where members can not only showcase their work but also receive valuable feedback. Community members are encouraged to comment on each other’s photos, helping one another grow, improve their skills, and stay motivated through constructive input and shared enthusiasm.
When a community member creates a profile, they get a clear overview of all the photos they’ve taken and uploaded. This personal space not only helps them track their own progress, but also allows them to reflect on their growth as a photographer. In that sense, the profile can also function as a portfolio—something they can be proud of and share with others to showcase their creativity and development.
