Group project of a recipe app designed for home cooks aged 40–60 who love Italian food. The app guides users step by step through a handmade pasta recipe, based on a dish prepared by a real chef. With clear instructions, visuals, and helpful tips, the app makes it easy and enjoyable to cook authentic pasta at home.
In just three weeks, we developed three iterations of our recipe app: a Low Fidelity (LoFi), Medium Fidelity (MeFi), and High Fidelity (HiFi) prototype.
We tested the LoFi and MeFi versions with users from our target audience (cooking enthusiasts aged 40–60) to gather valuable feedback. These user tests helped us identify key pain points, such as the number of steps in the recipe flow and the clarity of the instructions. Based on this feedback, we improved the structure and guidance in the final HiFi design, making the app more intuitive and user-friendly.

At the top, you can tap buttons to filter for gluten free or lactose free dishes, making it easy to find something that fits your needs.
Use the search bar to look up recipes by name or by ingredients you already have at home.
Each recipe shows how long it takes to prepare and how easy or challenging it is, so you always know what to expect before you start cooking.
Ricetta’s shopping list makes ingredient planning easy and organized.
It automatically collects all the ingredients from your selected recipe and lets you check off items as you gather them at home or in the store.
You can also set the number of people you are cooking for, and the app will automatically adjust the ingredient quantities based on your selection.
Whether you are preparing ahead or shopping on the go, the list helps you stay focused and saves time.
Ricetta includes a built-in microphone feature that lets you navigate through recipe steps using voice commands.
By saying simple phrases like “next step” or “previous step,” you can move through the instructions without touching your screen.
This is especially helpful when your hands are messy and you want to avoid washing them every time you check the recipe.
Hands-free cooking means less hassle and more focus on your food.
Ricetta makes following a recipe easy with an interactive step-by-step menu.
At the bottom of the screen, you can open a slide-up menu that shows all steps at once. This makes it simple to jump back or forward at any time.
When the menu is closed, you can still navigate between steps using side arrows or by swiping left and right — plenty of ways to stay in control while cooking.
Some steps include built-in timers. Just tap the timer icon to open it. The timer is already set to the right time but you can adjust it if needed. You’ll get a notification when the timer ends, so you can stay focused without missing a beat.
When something goes wrong, Ricetta keeps things fun.
Our 404 pages are playfully themed to match the Italian spirit of the app. Instead of a boring error message, users see lighthearted lines like:
